Astonishing Loss: Food Education Gap Hurts Nepal's Kids

  1. MN, in all its forms, including under-nutrition (wasting, stunting, and underweight), inadequate vitamins or micro nutrients, and resulting diet-related non-communicable diseases, presents a major problem worldwide particularly in LMICs.
  2. In Nepal, it’s especially severe as half of all children under five are undernourished, leading to stunted growth, weak immune systems, and developmental delays; resulting in about 50,000 deaths each year.
  3. Lack of healthy food, poor sanitation, and mothers not having enough knowledge about childcare aggravates further.
